There are few tools as powerful as the camp experience to impact the lives of young people positively. Whether it’s through nurturing social skills, building self-confidence, re-connecting youth with nature, or supporting positive peer-to-peer relationships, North Carolina 4-H Camps have the power to transform the lives of every child served in many constructive ways.
North Carolina 4-H currently operates three nationally accredited residential camps. The multiple life skills youth gain while at a residential camp, including responsibility and independence, will help them in school at home and enable them to become lifelong learners. New for 2022, to promote the residential camp experience to local youth, Avery County 4-H will be offering five individual scholarships to youth to attend Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe, NC, during the week of July 10 – 15, 2022! Youth may select other weeks to participate. However, scholarships are only for the week of July 10th -July 15th, 2022. Please note youth do not currently have to be a 4-H member to attend residential camp.
If you enjoy horseback riding, swimming, arts & crafts, archery, games, talent shows, canoeing, campfires, and much more ..….4-H camp if 4 you! Slots fill up quickly, so reserve your spot today. ***For the summer of 2022, Avery County 4-H Youth Development will be offering our traditional 4-H Summer W.O.W. Day Camp Program beginning June 13, 2022. The 4-H Summer W.O.W. Program operates Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. For additional information, please contact Bobbie Willard, Extension Agent, N.C.
