The Avery County Fit Test and Medical Clearance Certification Program will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the N.C. Cooperative Extension -Avery County Center located at Heritage Park Fair Grounds (661 Vale Road, Newland, N.C.). Testing will be from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. NOTE: Testing will be done in mobile trailer units located in the field behind the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Avery County Center.
The fees will be:
Medical Clearance: $25.00
Fit Testing ONLY: $25.00 Per Participant
**Face needs to be well groomed for fit test.
Fit Testing and Medical Clearance: $45.00 Per Participant
Participants have the option to pay on the day of testing or to be invoiced. Please pay with cash or checks made payable to ECU. (NO CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS ACCEPTED)

Avery County Fit Testing and Medical Clearance Certification Process
Step 1: Medical Clearance can be obtained in several different ways, such as:- Saturday, April 1st, Avery County Fit Testing and Medical Clearance Certification
- Visiting your personal physician
- Online medical clearance
Please contact our office to request the quantity of OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaires (English or Spanish version), along with the other supporting documents you will need. The OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire form must be completed prior to arriving on Saturday, April 1st. If you complete the medical clearance with your family physician, the physician will need the completed evaluation form for your medical clearance. Step 2: Contact the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Avery County Center at 828-733-8270 to make an appointment for the Fit Testing ONLY or the Medical Clearance and Fit Test certification; Please remember you are required to have an appointment in order to become certified on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
Step 3: Please arrive at Heritage Park at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time with ALL the forms either COMPLETED or ready to be completed.
**Translators will be available if needed to aid workers.
