2009 YO! Afterschool Program The 2009-2010 Avery County YO! Afterschool program has begun and is off to a great start. If you are needing afterschool care please contact us or download the information from below. The program offers a afternoon healthy snack, educational games, help with homework and many, many more exciting educational programs. Please find listed below the registration forms and the parent handbook. For more information please contact us at 828-733-8270. 2009-2010 YO! Afterschool Registration Forms "Creating Happy and Healthy Children" The Avery County Cooperative Extension Center will be hosting a 10 week course for parents and childcare providers. Childcare providers can earn 20 CEU credits from the DCD. The course will begin on Tuesday, September 15th and run through November 17th. (This course will be conducted each Tuesday of the week.) The location will be Kingdom Kid's Daycare in Newland beginning at 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Tres Magner, Extension Agent will be teaching Love and Logic and Melanie Cashion, Nutrition Program Assistant will be teaching Expanded Food and Nutrition Education. Pre-registration is required. A registration fee will be charged. You will receive a workbook, cookbook and small kitchen gadgets. For additional information please contact the Cooperative Extension Center.
The Avery County Cooperative Extension Center will be hosting a Pasture Management Field Day on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. A meal will be provided immediately after the workshop is completed.
