Avery County Fit Testing and Medical Clearance Certification
N.C. Cooperative Extension –Avery County Center, in conjunction with the North Carolina AgromedicineInstitute and High Country Community Health Farm Worker Program, will beconducting a Fit Test and Medical Clearance Certification Program on Friday,March 20, 2026, at the Avery Community Center at Heritage Park, 661 ValeRoad, Newland, NC, beginning at 8:30 am and concluding at 2:30 pm.
The NC Agromedicine Institutehas agreed to conduct the Fit Test and Medical Clearance Certification to helpreduce the fees for each person. The fees will be: Fit Testing and MedicalClearance - $55.00 per person. Please make check/money order payable to ECU. All participants getting a fit test must be CLEANED SHAVED toensure proper fit.
NOTE: If you are applying pesticides that do not require the use of a respirator, you are not required to have either a medical clearance or a fit test. Youalso do not have to participate in this program to legally spray; there areseveral ways for you and your employees to obtain the required medicalclearance and fit test. However, if you are applying any pesticide thatrequires a respirator, the WPS rules require that individuals have medical clearance and be fit-tested prior to application.
