farm to school programThe USDA has given NCDA $5.6 million dollars for schools to expand local food purchase from local farmers with a priority on socially disadvantaged farmers. This is a great opportunity for farmers to build a relationship with schools and with the NCDA Farm to School Program. N.C. Cooperative Extension and the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) will host a webinar on April 11th from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on “How to Sell to K-12 Schools”. The webinar will include food safety resources, what farmers need to know to sell directly to schools and through NCDA’s Farm to School Program, and experiences from a current vendor. This webinar is open to agents, farmers, and anyone interested in farm-to-school from the purchasing angle.
